Welcome to the Korean Society of Food Science and Technology (KoSFoST)

The KoSFoST, founded in 1968, is the first scientific society for the professionals in the field of food science and technology in Korea. Over the past 50 years, the KoSFoST has contributed substantially to the academic promotion and development of the food industry by providing scientific and technical information to the community as well as the general public.

The KoSFoST has been one of the most active and largest scientific societies among more than 300 academic societies registered in National Research Foundation of Korea over the past half century. The KoSFoST publishes “Food Science and Biotechnology,” an SCIE journal (IF 2.9; Q3), “Korean Journal of Food Science and Technology,” a SCOPUS journal, and “Food Science and Industry,” a journal registered with the National Research Foundation of Korea. Through the publication of these journals, the KoSFoST promotes the latest food science and technology, contributing to the development of the food industry and the improvement of consumer health.

The KoSFoST organizes international symposiums and annual meeting to exchange ideas and research findings from the community. The 2024 KoSFoST International Symposium and Annual Meeting will be held at EXCO in Daegu from July 3 to 5, 2024 with the main theme of “Quantum Leap in Value-Creating Technology for Future Meta-Food Science.” Through this academic event, the KoSFoST hopes to provide an opportunity for the scientific and technological advancements taking place in the domestic and international food industry to further contribute to value creation. In addition, the KoSFoST expects to provide a convergent view of all fields of food science from a food science perspective and provide a venue for in-depth discussions to improve the efficiency of food science. During this KoSFoST International Symposium and Annual Meeting, many experts from domestic and foreign academia, research, industry, and government will present and discuss in sessions covering various topics related to food science and technology, and the latest technology and information in the related industry will be shared through a food industry exhibition.

The KoSFoST also holds an industry-academia symposium to introduce the current status of core technologies and products in the industry. The KoSFoST provide opportunities to help in regulatory reform by holding symposiums and seminars in collaboration with food-related government ministries and public research institutes to provide a forum for discussion on policies and regulations. The KoSFoST is doing its best to advance to the next level by holding various academic events.

The KoSFoST will continue to work hard to become a leading academic society not only in Korea but also around the world in 2024, keeping in mind its commitment to the mission. We hope active participation and support from all members as they are necessary for the KoSFoST to fulfill the mission given by the country and society for the worldwide development of food science and technology.
